Mondo/ Alamo Drafthouse Posters

Anyone follow the wallet-raping world of Mondo posters?

I have a few (The Gate, Dracula, NOTLD, Santa Sangre, Zombie), plus some other non-Mondo fan prints.

They are getting so hard to acquire, which for me is perhaps the better scenario.

I love the look but have two problems: 1) never enough wall space, b) I can't bring myself to spend that much. :(

I have a few:
NEVERMORE
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (Olly Moss) - Signed by Rick Baker

I sold my Stout THE THING poster for almost a grand (!) on eBay when I needed to pay off some bills.

I have Santa Sangre and Basket Case. I've missed so many of them that I would have loved to get my hands on. Mainly that NOTLD one and the Dracula one. I can't bring myself to buy them at the inflated collectors-prices. At shock-stock they were going for $120+

I love the old Mondo stuff before they became the Wal-Mart of limited ed. posters. Nowadays I'm not feeling them as much. Nonsense, that Santa Sangre is a nice one -if I dug the movie more I'd be all over it.

Here's what I have so far. Just waiting to pick up a Monster Sqaud (hopefully soon) to finish my one wall:

The Thing (Stout)
Let the Right One In (Stout)
Monster Squad (Stout)
Gremlins (Cooper)
Critters (Cooper)

Other stuff waiting to go up:

ReAnimator (Pardee) signed by Jeff Combs & Barbara Crampton
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Proctor) signed by Gunnar Hansen
The Lost Boys (Davis) signed by Alex Winter & Ed Herrmann
Halloween (Methane) signed by John Carpenter
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Methane) signed by Robert Englund
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Pardee) signed by Robert Englund
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Edminston) signed by Robert Englund
Sleepaway Camp (PCC) signed by Felissa Rose & Jonathan Tiersten
Black Christmas (Davis)
Tremors (Pardee)
Basket Case (Pardee)
Near Dark (Summers)
Carrie (Methane)
Night of the Creeps (Smith)
Street Trash (Pullin)
Dead Alive (Haynes)
NOTLD (Bertmer)
Evil Dead (Bertmer)
Hellraiser (Bertmer)
Evil Dead (Short)
The House of the Devil (Silent Giants)
The Human Centipede (Silent Giants)
Trick 'r Treat (Millward)
Zombie (Proctor)
Dawn of the Dead (Proctor)
28DL (Adlard)
Maniac (Taylor)
The Beyond (Taylor)
The Burning (PCC)
The Gate (PCC)
Mac Wants the Flamethrower (Beckett)

When I look at it as a list I now realize there's no possible way this will all fit in my office. Uhh....

Been working on framing stuff. Got my LTROI and Thing finished up recently. Acid free backing, UV glass, etc. Hopefully I'll have one wall done soon.

Anyone grab the Dark Night poster? Limited edition of 9 FUCKING THOUSAND or something crazy like that. It was their first unlimited 24hr sale and they cleared somewhere in the neighbourhood of $400,000.

Walmart of posters indeed!

Just to throw this out there:

I'm heading to Fantastic Fest in September which takes place at the Alamo Drafthouse off of S. Lamar. They have a Mondo store inside the lobby and sometimes they have stuff there that has previously been sold out online. I remember seeing some of those cool Pan's Labyrinth posters last year.

I plan on devising a system where, if interested, you PayPal me the money and I can pick some up for you. It might be a little harder for me to tell you what posters they have that they previously released, but I could do it. More importantly, any pieces they release during the festival (which I would assume you might see THE SHINING & THE ENTITY) I would be happy to pick some up.

Just PM me if interested.

Nope skipped it. Crazy that people are selling that edition for double and triple what they paid for it. Ha! Mondo is out of control.

This is an awesome idea. If open to newer members here (me) and there's anything I'd HAVE to have on the wall this would be perfect. Of course I'd pass the good karma along when the opportunity arises.

So I know this thread is about Mondo posters but have you guys seen the Malleus posters for Argento. Fucking beautiful.

Awesome! The list of films this year looks promising so hopefully there's cool screen prints to go with them.

Here's a couple more I have framed up while I'm here:

If you haven't yet - don't. Save yourself!

I was finally able to get the Body Snatchers this week after an almost 2 year search. Got it cheap too! Also had the Spooky Empire Killer Klowns delivered. Not Mondo but it fits the movie perfectly and is better than 95% of the shit they put out nowadays. Big ups to Joe Simko for nailing the art.
